The Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) isn’t a grant but an ongoing income stream that every MCS-certified solar system qualifies for. Licensed energy suppliers are legally required to pay you for surplus electricity exported back to the grid, with rates ranging from 4p to 15p per kWh in 2026. A typical 4kW system earns £150–£300 per year through SEG alone.
